Riverwalk Theatre announces call for actors for their upcoming musical, "Working." They are seeking actors of diverse backgrounds, including ethnicities, ages (can play 18 and older), genders and theatre acting and voice “types” that are willing to portray masons, fast-food workers, housewives, truck drivers, call center reps, sex workers and more. They're asking everyone interested to prepare their best 1-2 minutes of singing that shows their vocal range and ability to portray a character, as well as a reading of one of the provided sides. This production will be rehearsed virtually (beginning in Mid-March and working through May), and individual scenes will be recorded and edited to produce a full show. The East Lansing Arts Commission announces a call to artists for a public mural that will celebrate the city’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, the importance that art plays in defining a sense of place and community and the diversity of the East Lansing community. It will be located in downtown East Lansing on the fourth and fifth floors of the Albert Avenue Garage, 218 Albert Ave., which is part of the Center City development and cover an area approximately 23 ft. tall and 53 ft. wide. LAFCU announces a call to Michigan artists for the "Act with Love & Equality" art initiative. Their mission is to showcase daily reminders of important words (as they relate to love & equality) through the use of art pieces that will be showcased on billboards and digital channels. Artists are asked to create their piece using their medium of choice based on one of 10 words (Love, Humanity, Change, Peace, Kind, Empathy, Unity, Equal or One, Hope, Heal) that represent love and equality. Kalamazoo Institute of Arts announces a call to artists for the West Michigan Area Show 2021. This annual juried exhibition showcases work in all media by artists in a 14-county region surrounding Kalamazoo. Each year, a renowned artist, educator or museum specialist selects the works to be exhibited and over a dozen works to be awarded more than $5,000 in prizes, including a $1,000 grand prize. ARC Gallery & Educational Foundation in Chicago seeks entries for its juried art exhibition, "Observing Motherhood," April 30-June 19, 2021. Three "juror awards" will be selected for a small monetary award ($100 each); and awarded work will be featured on ARC social media sites. They are seeking innovative approaches to the representation of motherhood, shifting the viewpoint from the overly nostalgic imagery promoted by popular culture, to a critical exploration of the subject. Application deadline, March 21,2021. John Michael Kohler Arts Center invites artists to submit artwork for the July 17-18, 2021, Midsummer Festival of the Arts, one of Wisconsin's most popular juried art festivals. Jurors will select 135 artists for this festival, which features live concerts, family art-making activities and more, all on the John Michael Kohler Arts Center's beautiful campus in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. for entries for its 30th annual open exhibition, entitled “Innovations.” ISEA gives all mediums a venue to show work in an annual international juried exhibit. Experimental artists explore new techniques, compositions and concepts to create an attitude of “what ifs.” Art can be realistic or abstract, the approach is what counts. The Indianapolis Art Center announces a call for entry to their Women’s Work exhibition, a juried exhibition centered on gender and feminist politics. Historically, women have been excluded from the art world, from being kept out of academies and apprenticeships to being woefully underrepresented in galleries and museums today. Along with this, the art skills that were deemed feminine or appropriate for women, such as sewing, embroidery, or weaving are dismissed as “just” crafts and hobbies. This exhibition, open to women-identified and non-binary artists from the local and national community, seeks to highlight female artists and intersectionality in femininity.
