The first workshop is coming up October 15 and it is for existing businesses. The workshop is taught by a registered IRS agent.

The second workshop is on November 8 and this workshop is to help businesses to get listed on Google Maps! – We will show them how they can claim their listing and get it ready for the holidays, so their customer can find their business. We will walk them through the process and by the end of the workshop, they would have listed their business on Google Maps and have a better understanding on how to manage and update their Google listing online.

MESSAGE FROM SCPRT:

We at the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism (SCPRT) ask you to assist us in getting the information out to your tourism business members that they can locate directional signage to their businesses in the highway right-of –way. The legislature recently passed a law (TODS) to allow private businesses to do this. We qualify tourism locations, and SC Department of Transportation (SCDOT) ultimately approves the exact location of the signs.

While there are other criteria to qualify, the main criteria is that the tourism businesses need to be located in a RURAL area. This program defines a RURAL area as an unincorporated part of the state or a town of 5000 or less.

THE COST for the business is $400 per sign (most businesses need two) and an annual participation fee of $100 to SCDOT.

The DEADLINE to apply to SCPRT is October 30.

If you have tourism businesses that are interested in the program, please ask them to email me or text/call me at 803-331-9933. George Estes <gestes@scprt.com>
