Do you remember (or have you heard) the great UMW story of CHIP postcards? it was nearly 3 decades ago that United Methodist Women across Texas wrote thousands of postcards. It was a bipartisan effort to encourage the state Legislature to provide a Children's Health Insurance Program. Our efforts and all those postcards made a BIG difference - the measure passed! It created CHIP, a new statewide health insurance program for low-income children who did not qualify for Medicaid.

We have the opportunity to help keep Texas children healthy again! Let's all use our voices to help pass HB 321. Passing this bill would ensure parents get the information they need to enroll their children in health insurance, minimize paperwork and limit bureaucratic delays so Texas children can stay healthy.

Ther is a lot happening now. Don't miss the info below about:

• UWFaith Lunch at Annual Conference: Register by Thursday, May 22 which is just 1 week away!

• Group & Individual orders for UWFaith T-Shirts can be made until May 29

• Soul Care Mini- Retreat will be Thursday, May 29th. Register now and your resources will be sent. • Proposed Medicaid & SNAP Cuts - webinar on Thurs. evening, 5/15

Remember, we believe Love in Action can change the world! Be bold and add your efforts!

-- Wendy Campbell, President, HTC UWFaith
