According to Reuters, Amgen reported a drop in sales of its older drugs which sent third-quarter revenue down 3%, but biosimilar sales were strong.  Amgen, which last year launched migraine drug Aimovig, also said it would end programs to develop other neuroscience drugs.

According the company's press release, "Gallant obtains a dog's stem cells from tissues collected during a routine spay or neuter procedure. It is the first and only non-invasive animal stem cell collection method available today."

Irvine-Based Modulim  Announces New CEO Richard Oberreiter

Modulim , a company developing optical imaging solutions for noninvasive tissue assessment, announced the appointment of Richard Oberreiter as its new Chief Executive Officer. Oberreiter succeeds Modulim's founder, CEO and Chief Technical Officer, David Cuccia, Ph.D., who will focus on exploring new applications of the company's platform technology, known as spatial frequency domain imaging.

Two Top Executives Leave Westlake Village-Based Atara Biotherapeutics

Atara Biotherapeutics Inc. late Friday announced the departures of Dr. Christopher Haqq, chief scientific officer, and Mina Kim, general counsel and head of corporate strategy. Atara, which has its major T-cell manufacturing operations in Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks for cancer therapy, has not announced new appointees for these roles.
