SoMi holds off on new boat storage rules
Like heading through a "No Wake" zone, the City of South Miami is slowing down before rewriting the rules for how residents store their boats.

There had been discussion of updating the rules governing how and where on your property you could park and store a boat. A proposed change would have included regulations concerning size, number, location, and screening from neighbors.

After discussion by the City Commission, Commissioners decided not to adopt the proposed new rules.

Community Center Holiday Hours

The hours on 12/24 & 12/31 will be 10:00am - 4:00pm.

On The Record: SoMi Commission takes stand against conversion therapy
The City of South Miami is supporting other South Florida cities' opposition to conversion therapy.

Conversion therapy describes efforts to change an individual's sexual identity. The City has thrown its support behind a legal fight between South Florida cities that have banned conversion therapy and individuals who claim the ban is an infringement on free speech. The legal fight could reach the U.S. Supreme Court. If it does, South Miami would be one of several cities filing an opinion supporting the ban.
Annual South Miami Toy Giveaway on Dec. 21
The City of South Miami Annual Toy Giveaway will be held December 21 at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center. The event (which is only open to city residents) will be from 10:00am to 7:00pm at 5800 SW 66th Street.
