City Commission takes another step towards transparency
The South Miami City Commission has voted to require all future Board meetings be video recorded and made available to the public on the city website. Boards are separate from the main City Commission, but are able to make decisions that affect residents.

While City Commission meetings and some others are already video recorded, there are some that until now have been only audio recorded. Commissioners voted to require all board meetings be video recorded and posted.

The decision moves the Commission and the city as a whole farther along on its commitment to government transparency.

LIVING UP TO OUR PROMISE
Kudos to our SoMi Businesses
We wanted to share this great email that was sent to us. It's a real feather in the cap for all our business owners. It shows how they see South Miami as more than their place of commerce, but also as their true community. You are the embodiment of "pleasant living" and you make us all proud!

I was the Chairperson for our recent fundraiser and auction at the Alper Jewish Community Center in Kendall. With that came a lot of door knocking and requesting gift certificates and countless hours of speaking with restaurant owners and other retailers.

I will say, hands down, that the shop owners in South Miami are the most generous and kind people. Not only did they offer gift certificates, but I developed a nice relationship with some of the people and will now be patronizing their businesses. With that comes several referrals and more business in your lovely City.

We are all too used to getting complaints but we must also give credit where credit is due.
Kudos to South Miami!

Check out the new Annual South Miami Twelve Month Activity Report
The new City of South Miami Twelve Month Activity Report has just been released.

This year, the city renewed its commitment to communication and transparency by taking several bold steps forward. The report is one element of that campaign. It is a summary of the city's progress over the past year in fiscal management, green initiatives, parks and recreation improvements, capital projects, private development, and more.

The past 12 months have been challenging for everyone. Despite the unprecedented times, the vision and leadership of the Mayor and City Commission provided the guidance for our city to not only persevere but succeed.
