SoTL is Research!

SoTL (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning) may be a new concept for some, but the general premise is...

SoTL is the systematic inquiry into your teaching and then taking the results public, just like you would with any other research.

The ISU community values SoTL in a few different ways. First, it is codified in the Faculty Handbook and is considered equivalent to disciplinary research. Second, nearly half of tenure-track faculty at the University engage in SoTL work of some kind. Finally, because of its emphasis on improving teaching, it aligns with our land grant mission to provide practical education for all people in the State.

Learn more about SoTL and how it can benefit you by attending one (or all!) of our 2023-2024 programs:
