ACHIEVEMENTS

SR GIRLS SOCCER

Last week the Sr. Girls Soccer team travelled to Kamloops for the Provincial Championship. After finishing 2nd in the Okanagan Championships the team went into Provincials with a 5th overall ranking. On day 1 the Mustangs won 2 games against North Island Secondary School and Fort St. James Secondary School. This set up a game against Ecole Jules Verne in what was essentially a quarter-final. The Mustangs took a 1-0 lead right before halftime, and had a great chance to take a 2-0 lead but could not convert the chance. However, Jules Verne came out strong in the second half scoring 3 straight goals to take a 3-1 lead with only around 14 minutes to go. The Mustangs did not give up. Ella Bekar scored two quick goals to tie it, before Iyra Puno scored with only 1 minute left to win the game and put the Mustangs into the Provincial semi-final. This marked the 17th straight season the Mustangs qualified for the Provincial semi-finals! What an accomplishment! The semi-final saw a re-match of last year’s semi-final vs. Pacific Christian School from Victoria. The Mustangs took an early 1-0 lead before PCS tied the game. The game stayed level for a long time, however with only 2 minutes left, the ball fell for Mya Blazejewski who powered it into the net to take a 2-1 lead and send the Mustangs to the Provincial Final! The Provincial Final was yet another re-match from last year as the Mustangs took on Southridge. Southridge scored a very nice shot early in the game, and the Mustangs could not muster a goal, winning a silver medal at Provincials. A huge congratulations to the team on their accomplishment! Congratulations to some individual award winners, Iyra Puno the team’s Super 16 award winner, and to Jayla Thalheimer who had the honour of being named Tournament MVP. Congratulations!

Congratulations to our senior players for their leadership and success on and off the field over their seasons on the team.

Way to go Mustangs!

GRAD SCHOOL MASS

At our in-school graduation mass on Wednesday, June 6, our graduates “passed the torch” to the grade 11s.

The grads encouraged the grade 11s to embrace kindness, respect, and compassion for the good of the entire Immaculata family. Nick said that having respect and gaining perspective builds character. Liv encouraged the grade 11s to rise up to be strong leaders and role models for the younger students in the school.

Please PRAY for our grads. Join us in praying these intentions for them:

For the Immaculata graduates of 2024, that God will guide, protect and inspire them as they finish their last days of classes, write their last final exams, and take part in graduation celebrations.

For all graduates: for guidance, perseverance and wisdom as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

ANNE FRANK PRODUCTION

Thank you to the cast and crew for all of their hard work on our senior production of The Diary of Anne Frank. And thanks to all who came and bought tickets to our show to support the fine arts at Immaculata!

ART HISTORY-UNBIRTHDAY

Grade 10 students picked an artist and the assignment was to look up this artist and read enough about him/her that they could come up with six items that would make good gifts for the artist. They wrapped the six presents and placed them in a box that was constructed/painted in the artist's style.

See more here.

ARTS AND CULTURE NIGHT

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Arts and Culture night last Tuesday. It was an outstanding success.

GRAD PROFILES

Tristan attended St. Joseph School before coming to Immac. His favourite memories of high school include playing on the basketball teams, coaching the grade 8 boys basketball team, and being nominated and a finalist for the Augie Ciancone Memorial Award. He is most grateful for the support he experienced from faculty and his grad class. This summer, Tristan will have to spend time recovering from knee surgery, and working once he is able to. In September he will be attending Okanagan College to take Mechanical Engineering. In the future he hopes to work for a bike or ski company in BC as an engineer. Tristan’s twin brother Nigel is also graduating this year, and he has 2 older brothers who are alumni as well. Congratulations Tristan!

Annika came to Immac after graduating from St. Joe’s. One of her most treasured memories is the grad show performance and its tiresome hours of rehearsal in preparation to the actual night. She is most thankful for the teachers and staff, whose patience (she’s sure was tested many times) and understanding when she struggled gave her encouragement and insight to help her figure out many things. Annika also plans to attend Steubenville conference in the summer in Spokane, as well as working to save for school. She will be going to Okanagan College to pursue the Animation program in the fall. Congratulations Annika!

#immacgrad2024

Andrew attended St. James Elementary in Abbotsford. He joined Immac in grade 11. His favourite memories from high school come from his time on the Immac soccer team #MustangsOn3. He is grateful for the community at Immac. During the summer you will find Andrew enjoying the Okanagan weather and getting ready for post secondary school, which will start in September with him attending Okanagan College to begin a degree towards Education. Andrew can see himself back here at Immac as a teacher. Andrew’s brother Patrik graduated last year from Immac. Congratulations Andrew! #immacgrad2024

Fabi graduated from St. Joseph School after moving from Saskatchewan in grade 2. At Immac, one of her favourite memories was the grade 12 retreat at Green Bay. She appreciates how well the grad class ends up knowing each other as most of them grew up together since elementary school (small school bonus!). In the summer, she plans to work and hang out with friends as it is their last summer together! Fabi will attend UBCO in September to pursue a degree in science. She hopes to eventually become a nurse living in Vancouver. Fabi’s sister Camila graduated from Immac. Congratulations Fabi!

#immacgrad2024

Brentlee is a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary. At Immac, some of his favourite moments were going to Costco (for lunch!) and playing ping-pong in Mr. Witkowski’s room. He is most thankful for the community of the school and how everyone shows their Mustang Pride during sport events. After working the summer downtown at the parasailing shop, Brentlee will be heading to Okanagan College in the fall to study Business. Eventually, he hopes to work in finance in Kelowna. Brentlee’s sister Angelee is Immac alumna. Congratulations Brentlee!

#immacgrad2024

Mikayla came to Immac in grade 8 from Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary. Her favourite memories of high school are the great friendships she has made. She is most grateful for the spirit days and the activities put on by the school. In the summer, Mikayla will be working in her family’s vineyard. She will continue to work and save money through as she takes off a year from studies. Mikayla intends to travel and remain in the Okanagan in the future. Congratulations Mikayla!

#immacgrad2024

Connor is a graduate of St. Joseph School. His favourite memories of Immac include the Sr. Basketball trips. He is most grateful for the community of students and teachers. After working through the summer and attending the Calgary Stampede, Connor plans to move to there to attend the University of Calgary and pursue a degree in Engineering.

Congratulations Connor!

Katie came to Immac from St. Joseph School. Her favourite memories from high school are of her grade 12 retreat and all of her graduation-related activities. She is especially appreciative of Immac's small size, which allows you to develop deep friendships with the same students over time, creating a close friend group. Following a summer spent working and travelling with friends, Katie will be starting the business program at Okanagan College in the fall. Her career goal is to become a businesswoman. Congratulations Katie! #immacgrad2024

Thank you for your support through the year!

Lord Jesus, May Your Most Sacred Heart teach me To love even when it means sacrifice, To forgive even when I still feel hurt, To pray fervently when following You is hard, To engage life fully on the journey, To serve when selfishness would be simpler, To look for You at every crossroads, To have faith when I am afraid, To follow more closely in Your ways, To be accepting of others as You welcome me, To seek Your mercy though I am unworthy, and To hold You always gratefully in my heart. Amen.
