Social Media Smorgasbord
Can you believe we are on the other half of August?  Yikes, this summer has flown by!  I hope you were able to enjoy it at some point!  There are many topics and updates that have appeared in the social media realm since we last spoke, let's get started
Facebook Icon
1.)   New way to view Insights.  You may have noticed at the bottom of your Page posts you are given some new Insight information.  Admins can view Reach & Click Stats directly in their news feed.  This is a great way to stay on top of your post popularity without having to click into the Insights tab.

2.)  With all the changes Facebook has been making to their messaging platform they have compiled The Admin's Guide to Page Messaging.  This guide will assist Page Managers on how to use the new messaging tools.

3.)   GIFS for Pages (in testing) .  We have seen the short, repetitive videos (GIFs) infiltrate our own personal accounts, now select Pages can share GIFs with their Facebook audiences.

1.) Twitter has made major strides this past week with their advertising platform.  These updates include creative and new ad formats that allow user interaction and business targeting.  Promoted Ads will also be further embedded into the Users' Twitter experience.   Read more

2.)   The 140 character limitation has been lifted for Direct Messages.  Twitter expanded the limit to 10,000 characters, to encourage more in-depth private conversations.

3.) Twitter has also added 2 new features to the Twitter Transparency Report.  They are trademark notices and email privacy practices.

LinkedIn Logo
1.)  LinkedIn has launched the LinkedIn Lookup App.  This app makes it easier for co-workers to communicate among each other.  Businesses must  first enable this feature for their employees to communicate via the App.

2.)  LinkedIn renamed their SlideShare product to " LinkedIn SlideShare".  LinkedIn purchased the social media presentation platform in 2012.  The new name shows a stronger correlation to the social networking site.  Now it is even easier to share your SlideShare presentations to your LinkedIn profile.

Google+ Icon Google continues to re-brand and restructure their platforms.

1.)   Google launched a parent company called Alphabet and placed 2 top Execs to run this new company.  Google will be a company under the parent brand "Alphabet".  The move was made because the Google that we know now, has become a conglomerate of companies.  Alphabet is making it easier to differentiate between the different industries and products that Google has acquired and built over time.

2.)  Google has created   a new website and URL for Google Hangouts.  The apps you have used in the past to access Google Hangouts will continue to work as well.

3.)  Google has also made improvements to Google Hangouts to make it sleeker, simpler and faster.  Users can also make a ffordable calls from the Hangouts Dialer too.

4.)  Even though it isn't a social media update, it will make accessing social media much easier.   Google introduced OnHub a Google wireless router with a new way to manage Wi-Fi from your mobile device.  Pre-order yours today:   OnHub Wireless Router from Google and TP-LINK.  (Affiliate link)
