About the Program

Social media use in the U.S. is rising. Users are committing acts of offline violence and incurring health problems at increased rates. Some experts say these effects are caused by social media use. As a result, tort lawsuits have sprung up against social media companies. Should there be a line between intermediary liability for social media companies and, say, bar owners? How does Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act play a part? This overview talk will provide an intro to recent tort cases against social media companies and potential ways to mitigate risk.

This program is presented by the Litigation Section chaired by Rachael C. Kogen and vice chaired by Lauri K. Martin. Find out more about the section at  BHBA.org.
