URGENT NEED FOR BLOOD DONATIONS
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Due to fewer blood donations during the pandemic, and the rise in demand as people resume normal activities, the entire country is currently experiencing a blood shortage. The situation is especially serious in central Ohio.
Donated blood products are used for many conditions and procedures such as surgeries and organ transplants, pregnancy complications, traumatic injuries, burns, blood disorders, and much more.
There is no blood substitute – it must come from donation. One donation of a pint of blood can save up to three lives, according to the American Red Cross.
Currently in central Ohio, some hospitals are approaching critical shortages and may soon have to take steps to conserve blood supplies.
If you are a regular blood donor, you are urged to please donate again. If you have ever considered donating blood, now is the time to come forward to help save lives. Learn more about how to donate here:
