Denver GOP Social Event 6/23      Meet Your County Officers      HD8 Candidate Hilleary Waters      Volunteering

Happy Hour at Blackbird Public House

Join us on Thursday, June 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the Blackbird Public House. The Blackbird has a private space for us to use. There will be candidates dropping in to speak, but this is an informal, social event.

Blackbird has a varied menu and has been a favorite for Republican social gatherings. The ballots have arrived, and the discussions are intense and encouraging. Come out and meet like-minded friends. Denver County Republicans are organized and have momentum!

There is a small amount of parking in front of the restaurant for those who arrive early.

Diane Wolta
Meet Your County Officers

Diane Wolta has been volunteering for the Denver GOP for seven years. She started walking for candidates and shortly after that began helping with her house district. Then she became the Denver Republican Party co-captain for House District 9. Recently, Diane became the Second Vice Chair of the Denver GOP.

Diane's most important task in her role as Second Vice Chair is organizing for the primary and general elections. It is no secret that Republicans are often absent in the processing of ballots. Diane has taken on the task of juggling software applications, government red‑tape, volunteer schedules and talents, and multiple locations. With Diane's help the election work will be easier in the future.

Herding volunteers is not the only way Wolta has contributed to the Denver GOP in a significant way. Diane participated in an envelope stuffing campaign that garnered Denver GOP thousands in donations. This will enable Denver to help support local candidates. "We were taking a chance buying all those stamps and paper. But we knew if we reached out, conservatives would be pleased to see there were active Republicans in Denver County. It was a risk, but a risk that paid off."

Denver County Republicans (and Diane Wolta) are still looking for registered Republican poll watchers. The training for poll watcher is shorter than the election judge position training. You can work one day if you choose. Shifts are 3-4 hours (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) There is a big need for registered Republican volunteers on Tuesday, June 28. Contact us at volunteers@denvergop.org.

If Republican election judge positions are not filled the county will put unaffiliated voters in their places. We still have an opportunity to fill election judge positions for the November election.

Hilleary Waters for HD8

My approach to disaffected Republicans and unaffiliated voters is to listen. I ask them what are the issues that concern them most. You would be surprised how crime, education, homelessness and inflation are of concern to everyone, regardless of party.

For Republicans that have left the party I present the option of a middle way, not RINO, not TRUMPISM. So many have left the party because of either its ineffectiveness or extremism. A good politician's job is to find solutions to problems with the opposition. It is the true work of politics. Reasonableness is not weakness.

My approach to all the neighborhoods in my district will be the same, asking questions and listening. 'What concerns you? Have you experienced crime, theft, inflation? How are your children doing during and after the COVID school closures?' This is the best way to start a discussion that leads to voters considering me as a viable alternative to the current office holder.

Currently, inflation is the issue affecting everyone in Colorado. The cost of gas, groceries, housing and utilities have crunched budgets, especially for lower income residents. I want Republicans to offer solutions by re-prioritizing the state budget, cut wasteful spending, reduce taxes and fees and eliminate the unnecessary bureaucracies and regulations that hinder people and businesses from thriving.

Volunteers Wanted

What is expected of our volunteers? As much as you feel comfortable with. If you are comfortable hosting a gathering at your house of like‑minded people, go for it. If you're a door knocker with a brochure, we're good with that. The beauty of our organization is that you can be as gung‑ho as you want and although we do have some legal guidelines, your work will be appreciated. We need poll watchers for the upcoming primary and then the general election in November.

If you like making phone calls or sending text messages, we'll need you to help get out the vote. If you're a social media person, check out our Facebook page. A few days of reading the posts should get you up to date. Then feel free to comment and share your opinion.

Sometimes to get a volunteer involved all you need to do is ask them. And, once you become a volunteer for the party, don't wait to engage. If you want to host a gathering run it by your district captain and get it going. If you want to walk your precinct and engage people, it's up to you.
