Covid-19 Response and Society of St. Vincent de Paul

As many of you know, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha was able to help hundreds of families during the past six months due to funds we received through the CARES Act. All funds have been distributed. It was a wonderful, collaborative effort by our District Office and our individual conferences and we are so grateful to have been able to help so many. With that being said, we are now back to our standard model of raising funds to help those in need.

SVDP: OUR PEOPLE

Introducing our new pantry manager

Gillian Cromwell

We would like to introduce our new Pantry Manager Gillian Cromwell.

Gillian comes to us with a breadth of experience and she also has an amazing mindset and creative ideas on how we can continue to help our neighbors in need as it relates to our pantry services during these ever challenging times. We are so excited to have Gillian on board! Welcome!!

Gillian is a longtime Omaha resident and passionate advocate for good in the community. She has experience in local food systems, waste prevention, and composting. She currently serves as the vice president of Green Bellevue and holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

SVDP CONFERENCES

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha is made up of 31 parish-based conferences. Our Vincentians (volunteers) are the backbone of SVDP. We are so grateful for their work and all they do to help our neighbors in need.

SVDP and Omaha LoCo

Omaha LoCo, a local restaurant co-op, has been supplying the SVDP pantry with pre-made meals for four. These meals are boxed up and come with reheating instructions so our neighbors can enjoy a hot fresh meal from Omaha favorites like Jack and Mary's, Amsterdam Falafel, and Abelardo's. The program creatively supports local restaurants, very employs delivery drivers, and distributes food to some grateful recipients. The SVDP pantry has distributed approximately 250 meals for four in the month of January.
