Join Fibershed for an In-Field Focus Group on Targeted Sheep Grazing for Ecosystem Service Benefits, bringing together a range of stakeholder perspectives: shepherds, landowners, researchers, technical assistance providers, and supply chain partners.

This will be a special event to learn about and discuss ecological impacts of targeted grazing in vineyards, livelihoods supported by grazing and shepherding, and threats to the long-term viability of contract grazing for California perennial landscapes. We are seeking your input to help shape opportunities, including a new Ecosystem Grazing Credit, to uphold this critical landscape stewardship practice within food, wine, and fiber production.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in May at Shone Farm at Santa Rosa Junior College to build community and explore soil health assessment methodology. We were proud to host over 50 people from the agricultural services community for an in-field soil health assessment demonstration, panel discussion on selecting appropriate lab tests, and resource/tool sharing for soil health education. A huge thank you to everyone who made the event a success!

In 2021, the County of Sonoma used a portion of the PG&E wildfire settlement to establish a $10 million Climate Resiliency Fund with the goal of funding short-term projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon sequestration, and otherwise help local communities mitigate and adapt to climate change impacts.

Part of the Climate Resiliency Fund is supporting compost application on working lands! Gold Ridge and Sonoma RCDs have been working with farmers and ranchers to provide financial support for compost application - check out the new blog post on our website to learn more.
