ISB board member Mr. Amin Tomeh was honored by
Points of Light
for his community work with the ISB

Created by the administration of President George H. W. Bush, the Daily Point of Light Award honors individuals and groups creating meaningful change in communities across America. Each weekday, one volunteer or volunteer effort is recognized with the Daily Point of Light Award. Tomeh was nominated by fellow ISB member Ruwa Romman.
In the Points of Light
article, Tomeh spoke about the ISB saying, "Eliminating stereotypes through education really appealed to me. I liked that the ISB isn't a religious organization interested in proselytizing. We are a group of certified speakers eager to go into the community to foster meaningful conversations, especially with young people."
Tomeh considers the ISB's work as a constructive response to the Islamophobia we see around us. The idea behind the ISB is bringing a "real life Muslim" into the classrooms, churches, civic organization, and more along with cultural artifacts like traditional dress and the Quran. "We are open to all questions, nothing is out of bounds," he said.
