Children's Day Picnic in Lake Chabot

present our traditional

Den dětí -Children's Day!

Join Sokol San Francisco and Czech School of California for this fun, active family afternoon.



Join us for an outdoor picnic lunch and bring some food for the grill

and maybe something to share :-)

Czech food to remind us of home is always welcome!

We will have the BBQ ready to grill from 11:30 am.

Children's fun activities such as potato sack race, ring toss, egg and spoon races and more surprises will commence at 2pm.

We are asking Sokol members and friends

to be part of our community and please help out during the picnic

and

with staffing the children's games.

 We are meeting at Lake Chabot, the Mallard Picnic Area by the lake with large picnic tables and extra large BBQ.

Charcoal, water and coffee will be provided.

Bring your own picnic lunch and maybe something to share.

Our 5th annual Sokolský Běh Republiky is happening on Sunday 26, October 2025.

There are 3 categories for the run:

children under 10 (born 2016 and later)

children under 14 (born 2011 - 2015)

adults (all born before 2011)

Registration will open in September 2025

Základní umělecká škola Kyjov

Sokol SF and the Czech School of California



hosted an amazing event at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, Redwood City. About 100 of us got together to enjoy this wonderful talented group from Kyjov.

Their costumes, music, singing and dancing brought back all the memories of home.

Thank you, Jara, for making the song books for our audience! In the second half of the afternoon we sang along traditional songs from home.

Thank you all who brought some goodies to our potluck.

Sokol SF Rhyme Competition

Dear Sokol SF Poets, 

Thank you for your participation in the First Sokol SF Rhyme Competition. We really appreciate your time and your beautiful submission. We loved each and every rhyme you submitted. We were really impressed by your skills and imagination. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this contest a success! 

For the past month, You, Sokol SF members, and other Vestnik readers could have submit your vote. Even though we all believe You ALL are winners, the contest results are below. 

Adults:

1st place: Anna Cooková, rhyme Láska je silnější, Love is stronger 

2nd place: Lenka Bagherian, Rýmy

3rd place: Lenka Chludová, Píšeme čísla

Young Poets:

1st place: Naya Apte, rhyme The Life of a Swimmer

2nd place: Antonín Chlud French, rhyme Čas

Each participant will receive a digital diploma. We will have an official ceremony at our upcoming event, "Sokolský Běh Republiky," which will take place on October 26th, 2025. If you cannot attend the Sokolsky Beh Republiky and wish to receive an official paper diploma, please respond to this e-mail with your current address, and we will mail you the diploma by USPS.

Tyršův dům má 100. výročí

Česká obec sokolská odstartovala oslavy pokřtěním muralu Michala Škapy

Česká obec sokolská si připomíná 100. výročí otevření Tyršova domu na pražském Újezdě. Připravila celotýdenní kulturní program včetně workshopů pro školy, koncertu nebo divadelních představení. Sokolové také odhalili novou nástěnnou malbu.
