We are absolutely buzzing with excitement to welcome the incredibly talented dancers and musicians from Kyjov! And we hope you can join us!
During their last year's tour, they performed at stages from the illustrious Carnegie Hall in New York to the vibrant Moravian Societies in Illinois, and now they’re bringing their magic to us!

So, check out the links below to see all the fuss - you won’t want to miss this chance to connect with your Czech, Moravian, and Slovak roots in such a lively and entertaining way.
Join us for a celebration that promises to be as enriching as it is fun.
The performance will start at 4 pm so please arrive a on time!
At 5 pm we will all gather together for a sing-along of traditional Czech and Moravian songs and refreshments. (songbooks will be provided :-)
Remember, everyone is invited to dance along, laugh together, and embrace our shared heritage!
We will have a sing-along and a potluck with the performers after the show!

Dear Sokol SF Members and Friends,
Those of you who enjoy reading poetry know the power of this artform in capturing emotions and expressing language.
For three months this spring, we asked our readers to submit poems on any topic using any style in the language they felt best communicated their words, even encouraging our poets to employ "code switching" (criss-crossing languages in writing). We were thrilled to receive 8 submissions from writers of all ages, which we are including in this month's newsletter.
Though we believe that each of our poets are winners in their own right, we encourage you to read their rhymes and poems.
Thank you all who sent us their rating! We will tally all your votes and announce the winners in our June newsletter.
We hope to see all of the writers and also you - our judging panel in person at Sokolsky Beh Republiky on Sunday, October 29, 2025!
To enjoy all the poems in book form, just click on the button bellow.

Thank you T.G.Masaryk Czech School for the invitation!
We often hear from our out-of-town subscribers who regret not being able to attend our events in person. Therefore, whenever possible, we do our best to make our programs accessible beyond our local audience.
Recently, our students and supporters from outside Chicago had the opportunity to join us virtually for Marek Toman’s compelling presentation on the legacy and mysterious death of Jan Masaryk.
This time, we are bringing back Prof. Křížová and her lecture on the enigmatic Czech traveler with ties to Chicago, Enrique Stanko Vráz. If you missed her in-person talk at our school and at the University of Chicago in February, this is your chance.
The event is free and open to the public. However, if you would like to support our ongoing cultural programming, a suggested donation of $10 would be greatly appreciated (checks, Venmo and PayPal accepted, details here: https://czechschoolchicago.org/donations/)
Tuesday, May 6
12:30 PM CST

Arnold, CA
V termínu od 15. do 22. června 2025 se bude konat čtvrtý ročník českého
kempování (nejen) rodičů s dětmi.
V tomto týdnu se pokusíme vytvořit v Kalifornii české prostředí plné českých her, pohádek a písniček. Budeme kempovat u městečka Arnold, nedaleko od Bear Valley.
Kempování přinese aktivity převážně pro děti, ale určitě neodmítneme
dospělé bez dětí, zvláště pokud by chtěli s organizací kempování nějak
pomoci.
