The Clean Energy Act of 2018 required NJBPU to close the Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) Registration Program (SRP) to new registrations once 5.1% of the kilowatt-hours sold in the State are generated by solar electric power connected to the distribution system (known as the 5.1% Milestone).
Earlier this month, the Board determined that the market will reach the 5.1% Milestone on or before May 1, 2020, and
directed NJBPU Staff
to close the SRP to new registrations on April 30, 2020. In addition, NJBPU
recently established the Transition Incentive Program
to provide a bridge between the Legacy SRP and the Successor Program, which is currently being developed. The Transition Incentive Program

will be open to new registrations starting
on
May 1, 2020
after the SRP closes, and until the Solar Successor Program registration is established.
