What's happening at St. Antoninus!

This Sunday, November 23rd-

1. The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.

This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King. There will be one Mass, only at 10am.

After Mass, we will spend a brief time in praise, worship, and silent adoration, renew our commitment to Christ the King, and invoke a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. We will then process outside on S. Orange Ave for our Eucharistic procession through Newark. The people of St. Ann’s/Transfiguration will join us at the procession, which will conclude at their church on 16th Ave.

Starting today !

2. The Rosary Mission Group of St Antoninus will start today the 33 Day Preparation to the Total Consecration to the Holy Face of Jesus . This will be at 6:30pm on our Rosary Zoom. (Zoom link: https://conta.cc/39y9xt9)
Today is a great day to start, just a week or so before Advent, and then through Advent-- as we prepare for the first encounter of the Holy Face of Jesus in the manger. We will end the 33 days on Dec 24 eve. You can download
an ebook by Fr Lawrence Carney from the Tan Books website.

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 22nd !

3. Divine Adoration Prayer Group invites you to their annual "Love Feast". The theme is "Ultimate Love".

This is tomorrow on November 22nd, from 3pm- 7pm, ending with dinner . Ministering are: Rev. Fr. Cyril Effiong, Rev. Joseph Meagher and Nkiru Ike-Egolum. See flyer inside.

Tuesday, November 25th !

4. Neighborhood “Share a Meal” Thanksgiving

Our parish will again host our Neighborhood Thanksgiving Celebration in the church hall, sponsored by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and their associates. We need parish volunteers to welcome our neighbors and accompany them during the meal. The celebration begins at 10:30am with prayers, followed by a beautifully prepared sit-down Thanksgiving meal with live music and dancing. For volunteers, please come for 7:30am Mass, then join us for a light shared breakfast and a brief organizational meeting. See the flyer inside for details.

Thursday, November 27th

5. Our Thanksgiving Day Mass will be at 10am in the Rectory Chapel. “Eucharist” means thanksgiving, and coming to Mass draws us into a deeper, truer gratitude — a chance to thank God for every blessing of the past year and to rest in the certainty of His providence and care for us and our families.

Advent Begins next Sunday!

6. The season of Advent begins next Sunday, Nov 30, ushering in a new liturgical year (Year A) and inviting us into a season of prayerful preparation for the coming of the Lord.

7. Advent Parish Mission – “Waiting Well”

This year we begin an Advent Parish Mission using Fr. Mike Schmitz’s Waiting Well series—26 short daily videos on the Ascension App from Nov 30 to Dec 25. It is a simple at-home retreat requiring only 10–15 minutes a day for the video and journaling. More details inside.

8. We will have a parish Town Hall meeting on Sunday, Dec 7, immediately after Mass. This will be in the Church Hall. This is a crucial time for us to come together in unity and open our hearts to where the Lord is leading our parish family. Your presence matters.

9. We are celebrating a Jubilee Mass with Cardinal Joseph Tobin on Sunday, Dec. 21. This is the final month of our Jubilee. .We need volunteers. Sign up sheets will be passed around this Sunday. Please help us make this celebration a joyful and fruitful one. See flyer inside.

The season of Advent is next week!

When is Advent?

Advent begins Sunday, November 30, 2025, and runs until the afternoon of December 24, 2025.

What “Advent” Means

The word Advent comes from the Latin adventus, meaning “coming” or “arrival.”

It refers to the coming of Christ — in three inseparable ways :

  • His coming in history at Bethlehem (Nativity)
  • His coming into our lives now through grace
  • His coming again in glory at the end of time

Advent is a season of hopeful expectation and renewed longing for the Lord. Come, Lord Jesus!

This Advent, we are invited to step back from the usual rush and spend a few quiet moments with the Lord through Fr. Mike Schmitz’s Waiting Well journal and its short daily video reflections. Giving our Lord even 10–15 minutes a day creates a small opening where His grace can draw us closer. In that gentle space, Jesus Himself prepares us to encounter Him at Christmas with hearts that welcome His presence and yield to the peace He offers.

COST

$8.99 per month in the U.S to access the videos. ( cancel after one month, after the 26th video)

SOUL NURTURING

VIDEOS

Watch these uplifting videos!

CHRIST THE KING!

In this beautiful lyrical presentation, we explore the true Kingship of Jesus Christ — King by right of birth and by right of conquest. Drawing from Quas Primas (Pope Pius XI, 1925), this video reveals why the Feast of Christ the King was established: to restore all things in Christ and to proclaim His authority over individuals, families, and nations.

Through Scripture, the Roman Catechism, and the timeless teachings of the Church, you’ll see how Our Lord reigns from the manger to the Cross, from the Eucharist to eternity. Learn why peace is impossible where Christ is not acknowledged as King — and how His Sacred Heart must rule first within our souls, and then over the world.

Vivat Christus Rex!

Dr. Brant Pitre presents....

The last Sunday of every liturgical year, which is the week before Advent, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. In this video, covers the origin of the solemnity of Christ the King, established by Pope Pius XI, as well as the bizarre Gospel reading for such a feast. In todays' Gospel, we hear the account of Jesus' crucifixion from the Gospel of Luke. How and why would the Church place this reading before our eyes if she is celebrating the Kingship of Jesus Christ over the entire universe? What mystery lays present in this Gospel narrative that we may often overlook?
