Solemnity of the Annunciation

The Solemnity of the Annunciation celebrates the coming of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary to communicate the special mission God had chosen for her in being the mother of His only son. As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation tomorrow, Pope Francis invites all the faithful to join him in a special prayer to consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Reminder that Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament will offer the following opportunities for prayer and worship tomorrow, Friday, March 25th:

  • Daily Mass at 8:15am at St. Julian Eymard
  • Rosary Prayer immediately following daily Mass (approximately 8:45am) at St. Julian Eymard
  • Livestream of Pope Francis' Penitential Liturgy and Consecration of Russia and Ukraine at 11am at St. Julian Eymard (copies of the consecration prayer will be available to pray along)
  • Livestream of Mass from Holy Name Cathedral with Cardinal Cupich at Noon at St. Julian Eymard (copies of the consecration prayer will be available to pray along)
  • St. Julian Eymard will remain open until 5pm for personal prayer and reflection
  • Stations of the Cross at 6pm at Queen of the Rosary (led by Bereavement and Journey of the Heart Ministries)

Also, because the Solemnity of the Annunciation is a day of celebration, please remember that our Lenten obligation to abstain from meat on Fridays is lifted on this Friday.
