Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. Upcoming Differentiated Literacy Instruction Training *

|
Differentiated Literacy Instruction February 22, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. In this required training, certified teachers learn how to use reading assessment data from the ORF and Maze to identify struggling readers and develop reading intervention plans unique to each student. Certified teachers will also learn how to create a plan of action to differentiate reading instruction. Please register for this training on Trust Academy. Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.

Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1 - You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment. This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

The Nya Project is Accepting Applications for Global Experiential Project *

Attention 6-12 Providers! The Nyah Project, a program that bridges systemic opportunity gaps through transformative leadership fellowships abroad and tech-enabled college access strategy coaching, is accepting applications for our 2022 Global Experiential Leadership Fellowship! *FREE* two-week fellowship abroad to develop BIPOC high school students from Miami-Dade underserved communities into globally-minded and purpose-driven young leaders. They are looking for the following:
- High school students residing in Broward or Miami-Dade County, Florida, and are currently between the ages of 15-18 (Preference is for sophomores or juniors)
- Have a positive attitude and are excited about new experiences, new cultures, new people, and of course, travel
- Have demonstrated leadership through extracurricular activities or non-school affiliated service projects

NBCUniversal's Project Innovation Grants Return for Nonprofits
|
The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation and NBCUniversal Local announced the return of their “Project Innovation” competitive grant challenge in 11 markets, including Miami-Fort Lauderdale (WTVJ, WSCV).
For 2022, $3.475 million in grants to eligible nonprofits in the following four grant categories:
- Community Engagement: Programs that enable individuals to engage and volunteer in their communities.
- Culture of Inclusion: Programs that encourage equitable access, opportunities, and resources for traditionally underrepresented communities.
- Next Generation Storytellers: Programs that promote access and develop pathways for emerging talent, diverse voices, and underrepresented youth to explore careers in news, entertainment, sports and the arts.
- Youth Education and Empowerment: In-school and out-of-school programs that equip youth with the tools they need to succeed, including STEM/ STEAM education and youth entrepreneurship.
Key grant eligibility requirements: 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s headquarters and/or the program for which the organization is applying must be located in a participating market, service the market they operate from, have had total expenses of more than $100,000 (defined by the organizations most recent 990 IRS filing), and its programs must help to resolve everyday community issues in any of the four grant categories.
