Contract Updates

Across Local 1000

I am proud to congratulate the Barbers at Fort Sill Military Base on the ratification of their new Collective Bargaining Agreement, which became effective June 17, 2026.

For our Kroger and Homeland members, I want to assure you that the contract extensions currently remain in effect. We will keep you informed as developments occur. We appreciate your patience and engagement as we work toward securing agreements that protect and improve wages, benefits, and working conditions.

Looking ahead, several additional agreements will be opening for bargaining in the coming months. The current contract covering Sodexo workers at TCU is scheduled to expire on October 31, 2026, and the current agreement covering employees at the Oklahoma Policy Institute expires on December 31, 2026. Preparations for these negotiations will begin well in advance to ensure members have every opportunity to help shape bargaining priorities.

As we approach these negotiations and continue working through current bargaining efforts, member involvement remains critical. I encourage every member to speak with their Union Representative, attend membership meetings, and participate in bargaining surveys when they become available. The strongest contracts are built when members share their concerns, priorities, and ideas. Whether your focus is wages, benefits, staffing, scheduling, job security, or workplace respect, we want to hear from you.

In solidarity,

Ricky Burris

UFCW Applauds Advancement of the Faster Labor Contracts Act

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Faster Labor Contracts Act, legislation designed to help newly organized workers secure a first union contract more quickly.

UFCW International President Milton Jones praised the bill, stating that collective bargaining is workers’ strongest tool for securing fair wages, safe workplaces, and a voice on the job. He noted that the legislation closes loopholes that allow employers to delay negotiations, citing cases where workers have waited years for a first contract.

The bill would require;

  • Employers to begin bargaining within 10 days of a successful union election.
  • If no agreement is reached within 90 days, the dispute would move to mediation.
  • If mediation is unsuccessful after 30 days, the parties would proceed to arbitration to secure a first contract.

AFL-CIO Adopts Key UFCW Priorities at 30th Constitutional Convention

“This convention demonstrated the unity and strength of the labor movement at this pivotal moment for our country,” said UFCW International President Milton Jones, co-chair of the AFL-CIO’s convention credentials committee. “We are thankful for the solidarity of the entire labor movement in advancing UFCW resolutions on AI, affordability, and corporate megamergers. Our union leaves this convention committed to continuing to invest in new organizing, stand up for immigrant workers, and fight for the safety of all working people on the job.”

AFL-CIO stands for the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations. It is the largest federation of labor unions in the United States, representing millions of active and retired workers across various industries to advocate for fair pay, safe working conditions, and workers' rights
