Winter Solstice Sunrise, Greenbelt, Oak Ridges Moraine, Ontario

Dear Friends,

As the Winter Solstice approaches & we reflect on the past, it is very overwhelming to see so many of us fighting to right what we perceive to be wrongs, in some instances, for decades. Be it pesticides & pesticide industry influence, poisoned drinking water, toxic air pollution, protecting nature & biodiversity, climate change, paving over farmland, an unnecessary airport or highway. Those working on these causes & many more are committed  to making this world a better, healthier place for us & future generations. However, every single individual can strive towards positive changes, thereby making a difference. The interconnectedness of the earth is bound by an invisible link between people, animals, plants, air, water & soil. Our simplest actions, whether positive or negative, can be incredibly significant & have an influence on the world around us. We must not be disheartened & must NEVER give up. For our part, YREA will continue to advocate, inform & raise awareness of the many issues that need to be addressed.

All of us at YREA – Susan, Sylvia, Donna, Elizabeth, Liz and I extend our best wishes for brighter, more caring days ahead.

Keeping the faith,

Gloria Marsh, Executive Director

HOLIDAY GIFTING IDEAS

Think about the carbon footprint of items before you buy. Give experiences instead of just stuff: weekend getaways, tickets to concerts, memberships to museums, naturalist or hiking clubs; gift cards for consumables or consumables homemade with love.

Remove carbon from the air by gifting a tree to be planted in spring.

Make a gift to the planet by BULLFROGING your home with green energy.

Give the free ebook GMO myths & facts, a must read for everyone.

Whatever your choices, try & think outside the big box by

supporting small local businesses.

If you feel our advocacy is worthwhile & would like to support our work, please consider making a donation to YREA.

A review of recent activities can be found in our annual report.

A heartfelt thanks to our wonderful supporters, YOU keep us going!
