You Need to Know More About
Palliative Care

HopeHealth is a leading provider of hospice and palliative care in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Director of Palliative Care and Medical Director Jennifer Ritzau (right) wrote an opinion piece for Providence Business News on the all too often unknown benefits of palliative care.

HopeHealth’s palliative care program provides support to families and patients struggling with the burden of serious, and often long-term, illness.

“Palliative care is not for those who are giving up – rather, it’s for those who want to live longer, better lives, despite their illness,” writes Dr. Ritzau. “It should be started as soon as patients are diagnosed with a serious, life-threatening illness, because there is so much we can do to help.”

R.I.'s Leaders in the National Spotlight

Southern Sky Renewable Energy received national news coverage for their recent solar array ribbon cuttings. Solar Power World covered their latest project to come online, a municipal array on a previously abandoned brownfield in Warwick.

Solar Builder Magazine covered the commissioning of Southern Sky’s solar array in North Providence on the site of the former municipal landfill.

PV Magazine staff writer John Fitzgerald was also on site at the North Providence ribbon cutting. His story highlighted how the town was now producing revenue from a site that had previously cost them to maintain. Southern Sky VP Lindsay McGovern calls North Providence’s solar array “The Trifecta Deal” - generating energy savings, land lease payments and property taxes.

The Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts has been giving back to the Rhode Island and Massachusetts communities with their annual ‘Scouting for Food’ drive for over 30 years. This year the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and the United Way of Greater New Bedford's Hunger Commission received a total of 270,827 pounds of food. Over 200 Scouts went door-to-door beforehand to remind neighbors in Southern New England about the drive. In Scouting for Food’s 31-year history, the Scouts have collected over 9.2 million pounds of food for those in need.

The Scouts’ “Good Deed” was covered in a variety of local and regional publications.

Infrastructure Bank Invests in Rhode Island's
Clean Future

Providence Business News featured the Bank’s CEO Jeff Diehl in its widely read “Five Questions” column recently. Diehl discussed how the Infrastructure Bank has diversified its portfolio to support investments in clean energy, energy efficiency and the landmark school building infrastructure bond approved in the 2018 general election.

“Over the longer term, we are taking concrete steps to make the state’s infrastructure more resilient in the face of looming climate change,” said Diehl.

The Infrastructure Bank has invested nearly $2 billion in local infrastructure since its inception, in addition to creating and supporting over 57,000 jobs.
