GFCO News and Information

Product Finder Launch

We are excited to announce that our public product finder has been completed and is ready to launch. This app is mobile-friendly and will allow consumers to easily find your products when they are shopping, either at the store or online. You can find the GFCO Product Finder at gfco.org/product-directory/.

Products will only show up on the product finder if they are on a current, active GFCO certificate, and if you have indicated that the product is publicly available for sale. Product searches can be performed by keyword, UPC, brand, category, or sales region, so make sure that your products have names that consumers can recognize, and that the brand, category, and sales region are complete.

Even if your products are only sold wholesale to other manufacturers, you should still mark them as publicly available for sale, so that other manufacturers can find them. The only time a product should not be marked as publicly available for sale is when it is a work-in-progress material that is only moving between your own manufacturing sites.

The “Product Label Image” field on each product record is intended to display an image of the product’s label for consumer identification on our public product finder. You are able to make these images publicly visible by switching on the “Display Image on GFCO Public Product-Finder" toggle switch. If you are uploading an image for the first time, you will be prompted with a question if you would like the image to be visible on the product finder. Clicking “Yes” will turn that toggle switch on for you. If you would like to keep the image private, leave the “Display Image on GFCO Public Product-Finder" toggle switch “Off”.

As a reminder, if you have used the Product Label Image field to upload packaging proofs, those still need to be submitted via email to gfco.branding@gluten.org for trademark-use approval. We have not integrated a label approval process within Compass yet.

Proficiency Testing

GFCO’s 2026 proficiency testing round, Wheat Gluten in Baking Mixes, is now open for sign-ups at www.gluten.org/proficiency-registration. Our credit card payment service has changed to route to our GFCO online shop. When you choose to pay by credit card, you will be routed to the GFCO online store, where you can select the number of samples needed and add them to your shopping cart. Select the cart to proceed to check out.

Quarterly Testing Reminder

This is a reminder that testing records for quarter 4 of 2025 (October, November, and December) were due on January 10th. If you have not yet submitted your quarter 4 testing data, which should include your testing of raw materials, equipment, and finished products as designated in your testing requirements, please submit that to testing@gluten.org.

Switch from DocuSign to PandaDoc

GFCO is changing its document signature application from DocuSign to PandaDoc, and we are making you aware so you will know that emails from PandaDoc are legitimate communications from GFCO. If you are unsure of any email that you receive from a gluten.org email address, please reach out to gfco.clientsupport@gluten.org to confirm its authenticity before opening it or clicking any links.

How Far Does Wheat Flour Travel?

A recent publication in the Journal of Food Engineering describes the dispersal characteristics of five common allergenic flours, including wheat flour, when dropped from a consistent height. Different flours had different dispersal patterns, spreading from as little as 0.5 meters to as far as 5 meters. The article then discusses the importance of minimizing the drop-distance of flour to control its potential spread, which is important in both manufacturing and food service operations.
