When people are brought to the doctor or hospital unprepared and without a support person, lacking their list of medications or medical history, more stress is put on the already stressed healthcare team. Then, add the need for a person to but put on a ventilator. Who will speak for these patients if they become too sick, even temporarily, to speak for themselves?
Whether it is about hand washing or being an advocate for your loved ones, there is much you can do, especially now that we have this time to think about our healthcare and prepare for what may come next.
