JUNE 2019 ENEWS
Cowichan River Estuary Success
The Nature Trust of BC is delighted to announce that we have secured a key property in the Cowichan River Estuary on Vancouver Island for wildlife, fish and plants. We would like to recognize the Whittaker family for this gift.

The Nature Trust of BC has been working in the Cowichan River estuary for over 30 years. With our partners we have conserved over 400 hectares (990 acres).
This estuary features a complex of tidal flats, shallow marshes, agricultural areas and a marine zone. It is home to over 200 bird species throughout the year and is a critical stopover for migratory birds along the Pacific Flyway.

Eelgrass and other areas provide rearing habitat for salmonids and other marine species, and the intertidal area is used by more than 30 species of fish including herring and trout.

The Cowichan is a BC treasure. If you would like to help with our next land acquisition, please donate .
