It has been challenging to stay connected to our loved ones during the pandemic. We have needed to be intentional about calling, texting and using this new mode of connection called Zoom. But the effort utilized is well worth the outcome. To hear a familiar voice and see a beautiful face, even on a screen, has been a Godsend in a time where we have been isolated.
Not being able to meet in person for worship has also taken its toll on us. Watching service on Facebook is not the same as being in the sanctuary for sure. But I have been grateful for the opportunity that Facebook has allowed for us to experience worship and provide a sense of community by using the chat box during worship. You can say “Good morning” to more people than you would be able to get to on a Sunday morning. Maybe you have learned to use the chat box to say Amen! or Praise God! or to share a prayer concern.
Our scripture from John 15 reminds us that Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. As branches it is our responsibility to stay connected to the vine. Jesus says to us, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you.” (John 15:4a) This Sunday we will look at our connection to the vine and discover ways we can remain in Jesus.
