From the Director

Dear Mountain Song Community,

As I reflect on my first 3 months here at Mountain Song, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. From the warm welcome I received to the incredible support from staff, families, and students, it’s clear this community is something truly special.

Each day, I see the heart and dedication that make Mountain Song thrive—from classrooms buzzing with curiosity to parents volunteering their time and energy, to students embracing the joy of learning and growing together.

This season of gratitude reminds me how fortunate we are to share in this journey, and I’m excited for the bright future we’re building together. Thank you for making Mountain Song not just a school, but a community that feels like home.

Warmly,

Nate Mylin

Director of Education

Help Us Create a Beautiful Winter Spiral!

DONATE EVERGREEN BOUGHS

As you pick up your tree this season, consider asking for extra evergreen boughs to help us craft a magical Winter Spiral for our students!

As you may know, the Winter Spiral is a beautiful, peaceful tradition that celebrates the winter solstice and the return of light. In a dimly lit room, a spiral path is created with evergreen boughs, and students walk through it, each carrying a candle. As they reach the center, they place their candle on the spiral path, creating a circle of light that grows brighter as each child adds their light.

The Winter Spiral symbolizes the journey through the darkness of winter and the hope of returning light. It’s a time for reflection, quiet moments, and connecting with the beauty of the season. The ritual is not only about the light itself but also about the warmth and community that grows when we share these quiet, meaningful moments together.

We're accepting bough donations tarting the week after the Thanksgiving Break. Please drop them next to the pizza oven in the garden

Winter Music Program

Last Friday, we showcased the incredible talents and hard work of our middle school students, who took the stage with confidence and grace. Their beautiful harmonies filled the room with warmth and joy, perfectly capturing the essence of the season.

A huge thank you to our dedicated music teacher, Mr. Nathan Mays, our staff, and families who supported these students in bringing their creativity to life!

To our performers: You reminded us of the magic that happens when we come together! Bravo! 🎶

Annual Campaign Update

Thank you, Mountain Song community, for your incredible support of our Annual Campaign!

Thanks to your generosity—and a matching grant from Janna Mulder—we’ve already raised over $5,200, putting us at 26% of our $20,000 goal! 🎉

But we’re not done yet! Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to our goal and helps us invest in the future of Mountain Song Community School.

These funds will go into the newly created MSCS Foundation, ensuring we can grow and sustain our programs for years to come.

Here’s how your contributions will help:

🌟 Enhance classrooms and outdoor spaces

🎒 Expand experiential learning opportunities

🚌 Offer more overnight field trips

📚 Spark curiosity with new materials

💡 Invest in professional development for our amazing staff

We’re excited to keep this momentum going through December 31st. Let’s hit our $20,000 goal and make this year truly unforgettable!
