Blue Zones Project Approved

Tuolumne County Health & Human Services Agency, HHSA, (Behavioral Health, Social Services and Public Health)

HHSA strives to create a healthier, happier, more productive workplace. They know that employees with higher levels of well-being are more likely to stay in their positions, perform better and have increased engagement. This may result in better productivity, reduced absenteeism, reduced healthcare costs.

After a year of compiling data, including employees taking the RealAge test, monthly meetings with the Wellbeing Advisory Committee and installing bike racks, designating BZP parking spots (a further walk), designing relaxation rooms-HHSA has become a BZP approved worksite.

On February 21, the HHSA Wellbeing Advisory Committee collaborated with the Blue Zones Project to host the Salus Symposium for their staff. Guest speakers presented including Mark Dyken sharing how to create a practice of care and Laureen Campana, highlighting ways to ‘downshift’, de-stress, relax and restore. It is evident the HHSA leadership team values their staffs and are dedicated to fostering an environment where they can thrive.

Cultivating Connections: Friday, March 8, 1:00 to 4:00pm at the Sonora Opera Hall

Social connections are vital to our health and well-being. And in a small town like Sonora, strong relationships enable our entire community to thrive. That’s why Adventist Health Sonora is thrilled to invite the community to Cultivating Connections, an interactive workshop about fostering healthy relationships and belonging. Held in celebration of International Women’s Day, the event will feature a presentation by Shasta Nelson, an expert on the power of relationships; a panel with local women on the role of relationships throughout their careers; refreshments and giveaways. Tickets are $25 per person, and all proceeds will benefit Project HOPE, Adventist Health Sonora’s support fund for local patients in need.

Sonora Area Foundation, Love Tuolumne County, & Blue Zones Project Tuolumne County Present the Tuolumne County Volunteer Fair

The Tuolumne County Volunteer Fair is returning to the Mother Lode Fairgrounds on April 4h from 4-7pm. This is a great one-stop shop opportunity for locals to find out about volunteer opportunities in our County. There will 75 local community organizations, agencies and social service groups staffing tables to provide information about their group needs.

This fun event is sponsored by Sonora Area Foundation and co-hosted by Love Tuolumne County and Blue Zones Project Tuolumne County.

According to research, volunteering can add years to a person’s life through creating meaningful connections to community, utilizing one’s skills, and creating positive feelings about where you live and work. Volunteer Fairs link community needs with volunteer interests, helping provide people with opportunities to live their purpose.

You can see all of the fabulous organizations who will be participating at tcvfair.org. The event and parking are free, and people of all ages and abilities are welcome!
