Students of the Quarter
Each quarter our departments chooses two students to recognize. One student showed the largest academic growth and the other student worked hard to maintain academic excellence throughout the quarter.
Ariana Montero has been selected the World Language Student of the Quarter because she does everything well beyond her teacher's expectations: she writes amazingly in all of her assignments of different formats, delivers superb verbal presentations, complying with all requisites, turns in everything on time, actively participates and collaborates in class discussion and helps her teacher and classmates without hesitation, creating an ideal climate and a better place conducive to learning in the Spanish 3/ AP and IB. Well Done!!
Kelechi Anusiem has been a beacon on light in the Academy of Nursing & Medical Careers program for four years. Her enthusiasm, warm, inviting spirit and leadership has been on display since her freshman year. She has been an exemplary student this year in the classroom and she's also our HOSA president for 2020-2021. We are so grateful to have her leadership in the program.

Kelechi isinvolved with our Black Student Union, National Honor Society, Volleyball and Track and Field. Congratulations!!
Tesfa Madhin has taken every higher level AP and IB Social Science course available to him, and excelled in the courses and on the exams. He possesses a natural love of the subject, and intends to pursue a career in law. Tesfa's passion for politics and history enrich our department greatly, and he is most deserving of this highest achievement honor. h

Tesfa is a talent athlete as he is a dedicated runner on our Cross Country. honor. .
Isabella Morgan is an extremely talented young person when it comes to our Game Design Pathway. She is dedicated and thinks at such a higher level constantly in the class. Isabella was chosen to go to the junior high schools last year to demonstrate and communicate to the incoming students all of the possibilities of the Gaming Pathway.

When she is in class she can be seen helping others meet their potential.
Thank you Isabella!!

Meet
Dr. Llewellyn

My name is Caroline Llewellyn. At Sonora, I am proud that we work collaboratively to create academic and personal growth opportunities and put our students at the center of all decisions. Together, we work to foster a positive learning environment where all students receive high levels of instruction, focusing on college and career readiness.

I began my career in education in 1999. During my educational career, I served as an instructional aide, substitute teacher, special education teacher and ultimately an Assistant Principal. During my journey, I was blessed to serve at Sonora High School as a Special Education Teacher. I am honored to return and serve Sonora High School as one of your Assistant Principals. I am thankful to have a variety of experiences that have cultivated a passion for equity and a heart to serve all students.

Here are ten little known facts that will help us become better acquainted:
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Antioch, California. My Dad was a pastor and my Mom became a special education teacher. I have three siblings.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love to spend time with my family. I have two sweet boys, James (13) and Christopher (10). I’ve been married to my husband Matthew for 15 years. We live in Fullerton and spend our weekends playing sports, riding bikes, and walking our dog Louie.
Why did you go into education? My hero and best friend was my mother. My mother went back to school to study to become a special education teacher. I was amazed watching her work during the day as a substitute teacher, attend night school, and care for her four kids and my father. I wanted to serve others and be just like my mom.
What keeps you in education? I have a strong desire to ensure educational equity for all students. I believe that every student is valued, important and loved.
What is one odd thing about you? In high school, I worked at the local skateboard shop for several years. I enjoyed repairing and building skateboards.
What is your favorite sport's team? My favorite sports teams are my kids' sports teams :) My husband is British, so we love soccer. Our favorite professional soccer team is Liverpool F.C.
Who is your most influential person in your life? The most influential person in my life is a tie between my Mom and Dad. My Mom worked tirelessly as an adult to become a special eduction teacher for students with significant disabilities. She brought love and grace to her classroom, daily. Her love for her husband and four kids shined brightly throughout every aspect of her life. My Dad experienced a profound physical disability as an adult that dramatically altered his life. He was a pastor at our church and active within the community. He consistently has a positive outlook on life and found ways of serving others despite his limitations. His love for Christ grew stronger when we lost my mom. My Mom and Dad shared a passion for serving others and demanding equity for all. This will forever be rooted in my heart. I strive to live each day, purposefully serving others.
Did you play any sports when you were in high school? I played water polo and swam in high school.
What is your favorite dessert? My favorite dessert is a chocolate chip cookie. I enjoy eating ½ of a cookie at a time. My family and friends know when I have attacked the cookie jar because there are many pieces of cookies, left behind.
What is your favorite quote? My favorite quote is….
