How They Work to Prevent Explosions

Explosion-proof lights are made to contain any internal explosion, preventing the ignition of surrounding hazardous materials. They are designed with sealed enclosures and other safety features to ensure that they cannot act as an ignition source for flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dusts.

Explosion-proof lighting is required in hazardous locations where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dusts are present, including facilities like: Oil and gas plants, chemical manufacturing sites, mining operations, grain elevators and some food processing plants.
