Dear Sophomores and Families,

The class of 2024 is in full-on project work mode for the Rocketry Project, an interdisciplinary study in Math 10 and Physics. Students have learned all about the math and science of projectile motion and are now creating bottle rockets that put their theoretical understanding into hands-on practice. Our Rocketry Exhibition will take place Tuesday, May 10 from 9:30am to 12:30pm at Smith Sports Complex at the northeast corner of Fort Lewis College. This is an exciting exhibition to watch, as students compete for the highest flying rocket.

Sophomores will attend 1st period electives before we head to Smith Sports Complex. We will return to campus at the end of lunch, so students should pack a sack lunch, dress for the weather (sunscreen is your friend!) and bring a water bottle.

We are seeking volunteer drivers to help shuttle students to and from the exhibition. If you are available, please sign up here. Because we need to process paperwork for drivers, we need to know who can help by Thursday, May 5, one week from today.

We hope to see you at the exhibition. We're proud of the engagement and depth of understanding your students are demonstrating as they strive for beautiful work. We recognize the timing is challenging for working parents, but finding available fields after school during the busy spring sports season proved to be difficult. If you're unable to attend, there will be another opportunity to learn more about this project at All School Exhibition on Thursday, May 19, 4-7pm, when they'll also exhibit their work from Humanities in Lori's Poetry Café.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership!
