Meet Our Sales Team
Rusty Smallwood

Rusty has been in the seed industry for 17 years working under the Warner Seeds and Kelly Green Seeds brands. Rusty is responsible for seed sales across the country and some export business and also manages the Lubbock and Farwell locations.
Raised on a farm and having farmed for himself and with his Dad, Rusty also worked as a mechanic and engine machinist and was in the commercial construction business.

We asked Rusty what he values most about Warner Seeds and here's what he had to say: "Warner is a privately owned company with a family atmosphere that allows for a good work-life balance. I am proud to represent Warner and Jerry Monk because they care about the farmers and do their best to provide high-quality products at fair prices."

Rusty appreciates the relationships he's made over the years and how well everyone in the business works together for the benefit of all. "I love this business and wouldn’t dream of doing anything else."
Cheb Krueger

Cheb has been with Warner Seeds for 12 1/2 years. He started with the company in November of 2009 selling in South Texas and moved to the Texas Panhandle the fall of the 2010. Cheb has worked in the seed industry his entire career and has served on the board for the Texas Seed Trade Association.
We asked Cheb his favorite thing about Warner Seeds and here's what he had to say: "My favorite thing about working for Warner is the family atmosphere that we have. I truly enjoy working with our customers to provide them with the best hybrid options to meet their needs. This year has been a struggle for all of us; dealing with drought through much of the sorghum belt and input availability and costs. I enjoy helping our customers try to find the best solution for their farm or ranch."

Cheb is the proud father of two sons: Codye is a grad student working on his Masters in Ag Education at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX and Ranley will be graduating as Valedictorian from Tatum High School in Tatum, NM this May.
Controlling Weeds During Drought

We all know weed control has a direct correlation with plant growth and ultimately yield, but how should weed control be tackled in year like 2022? "Drought causes all kinds of issues on the farm and very few of them are good. One of the issues is weed control. Unfortunately, many of the most problematic weeds are very drought tolerant and will germinate, emerge and survive on very little water," shares Brent Bean, United Sorghum Checkoff Director of Agronomy. Hear from Dr. Bean on weed control during drought.
Is Now the Time to Try Silage Sorghum?

Silage sorghum is gaining ground and rightly so. "Throughout the High Plains and other dairy and feedyard regions of the United States, silage sorghum is gaining in popularity. This is largely due to silage sorghum’s low water requirement and the continued introduction of new and improved hybrids," explains Brent Bean, Ph.D., Sorghum Checkoff Director of Agronomy, Lubbock, Texas. Learn why now's the time to try silage sorghum in this High Plains Journal article.
