FOR THE BIRDS!
KANSAS HABITAT PROGRAM FOR FARMERS AND GAMEBIRDS
The United Sorghum Checkoff Program and Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have partnered together to create a new habitat program in the heart of America's sorghum belt. It's called Sorghum for BIRDS (Building Innovative, Resilient, and Diverse agricultural Systems). “The resource-conserving nature of sorghum makes it a key contributor to healthy soils and the protection of precious water sources, while its wildlife-friendly characteristics help to support diverse ecosystems. By helping pair this incredible commodity with quality habitat, we’re reestablishing pheasants and quail in western Kansas while meeting ecosystem objectives for growers,” said Brittany Smith, Precision Ag & Conservation Specialist for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever.
