November 2024

e-NEWS BLAST

A message from Governor Liz Glowka:

Happy November, Golden West Region!

The calendar says it is fall, so the weather will soon catch up with the calendar. I am looking forward to cooler weather along with wearing sweaters and long pants.

The district 3 Fall Meeting was a resounding success, with Governor-elect Pat and I in Parker AZ for an amazing Met Gala and informational meeting. We then found the same energy at District 1 meeting in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. We had a fun paint night and another informational meeting that included a presentation by Cherryl Thompson, a Certified Health and Life Coach. It was truly inspirational and enlightening. We continued to Indian Wells, CA, for the District 2 Fall Meeting. We had fun at the Indian Wells Resort for dinner and a show featuring Marc Antonelli. Saturday was, again, informative and we were treated to a keynote presentation from Palm Desert Pro-Tem, Jan Harnik.

We are now getting ready for our road trip to the District 4 Fall Meeting in Las Cruces. I am looking forward to Friday night’s dinner and Dia de los Muertos celebration. I have my Day of the Dead outfit, and I truly hope I am not the only one ready to celebrate in costume.

The Republic Services donation has been distributed to Districts 1, 2, and 3. The District 4 donation is ready and waiting for distribution in Las Cruces. Their donation is widely appreciated. I hope to see pictures of the various clubs distributing their collected items to multiple women-based educational facilities and shelters. And then, see them posted on social media with credit to Republic Services and submitted to SIA as a Big Goal Accelerator Project. If you need assistance helping to make your project educational and/or economically empowering, please get in touch with SIA at Program@Soroptimist.org

Preparations are also under way for the 2025 Spring Conference in Fort McDowell, AZ at the We-Ko-Pa Resort and Casino. After our wonderful experience at that location for the Soroptimist 100-Year, All-Districts, Fall Meeting celebration, I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming event. I am sure they will not disappoint.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope you can spend some time on the many things for which we have to be grateful.

-Governor Liz
