Ponte Vedra's Teddy Sotsky was thrilled when he received the word that he was selected as the North Florida Junior Golf Tour player who would caddie for PGA TOUR Professional and NFJG Foundation Ambassador Russell Knox during the practice round at THE PLAYERS Championship.
Sotsky earned the privilege by finishing in the top 20 at the
2020 Palatka Junior Azalea hosted by the NFJG TOUR this past weekend. Sotsky finished tied for 6th. The names of the top 20 players were put into a hat. The Overall Champion Adam Vermut pulled the name and Teddy was the lucky winner.
The team of Knox and Sotsky would meet at the practice tee and a priceless moment would begin. Not only would Sotsky caddie for Knox, but he would caddie the practice round with three other PGA TOUR Professionals - Adam Hadwin, Martin Laird and Nick Taylor.
The thrill of the day was the anticipation of reaching the famed 17th hole where the caddies would compete in "THE PLAYERS CADDIE SHOOTOUT". Three foot 10" was already on the board. With the pin just on the front of the green Sotsky attempted a high soft cut 9-iron shot which got caught up in the light breeze just missing the green pin high right and in the aqua.
None the less it was a great swing and a very exciting moment and I'm sure
one that will not be forgotten for a long time to come.
