xxxIt has been said that 80 percent of the things we worry about never happen, but that doesn't keep most of us from worrying. One of the greatest fears the enemy seeks to exploit in our lives is that of the unknown. What will happen tomorrow? ... Will the plans work out? ... Will I meet the right person? ... Will I get the promotion? ... Will the kids make good choices? On and on the list goes of valid and necessary life concerns that the enemy likes to turn into fears.
xxxWe often limit our thinking of God's strength and protection to the realm of our physical bodies, to His ability to keep us from disaster or trauma. But our God is also the God of the unknown outcome. He is the God of what lies ahead, the God of all the things the enemy tries to turn into paralyzing fears.
xxxDavid reminds us that we are free to live today like God is in control of tomorrow. Fear need not be a part of our day. That is not to say we carelessly skip through life in ignorant bliss, for God did indeed give us minds to discern good and evil and to help us walk in wisdom. But here is the key in all this: God is in control of tomorrow, whether we live in confidence or fear, so why choose fear? Why not choose confidence in God rather than fear of the unknown outcome?
xxxGod is not only in control of keeping us from harm, but He is also concerned about life's ordinary situations that can impose upon our joy. God is our light and salvation. Whom or what should we fear?
