SPIRIT HOUSE KIRTAN
Friday February 23rd (& ongoing) 6:30-8 pm
A gathering of shared voices and singing, come exactly as you are… all are welcome.
We will sing chants, mantras and songs to uplift the heart and mind, and create connection together through the joy of music.
“Kirtan”, is a Sanskrit word that means “to get through”, so Kirtan can be a practice for cutting through the idea of separation, for connecting to our hearts and the present moment through sound”. “Mantra” means “to guide and protect the mind”, in a way to guide the mind from excessive thought towards stillness, focus and peace.
Krishna Das describes singing to the Divine as singing to… “an older, deeper, bigger being. It’s a space, a presence, a feeling. These names are the names of that place inside us that is love, is pure being, pure awareness, and pure joy. Kirtan, and other forms of mantra practice, such as meditation--- help us uncover that place inside us,” he says, “our true nature”.
Join us FRIDAYS starting this week Feb. 23rd from 6:30-8 pm in the cozy and warm Spirit House Yurt.
