Sound Off! SBBSM Monthly News & Updates

Dear SBBSM, Associates, and Community,

We love July. It is the time to celebrate America. We love the kids of Morgan Hill every year that delight the community with their patriotic performance of those songs that make us remember our childhood and the 4th of July's of times long ago. The Sing and Parade in Morgan Hill are always our way of thanking Morgan Hill for their generous contributions to our Care Packaging. The parade was a very fun day and we made it through by riding and walking this year. Thank you to Ralph Wilson and Dave Emery for making a great ride for us this year. Here's to a cooler summer!

Freedom Sing - July 3rd

Thank you to the wonderful job that Morgan Hill does with the kids singing patriotic songs. They also contribute items to our Summer Care Packaging including cases of Girls Scout Cookies

July 4th Parade

The weather was wonderful for this year's parade, and we still got to ride in style behind Ralph Wilson's truck. Dave Emery built us a comfortable bench and included a shade overhead to help with the sun and heat. We handed out flags to the kids along the route and thanked personally every Veteran we came across.

Thank you Morgan Hill, for another parade year well done!

Milpitas Veterans Commission: Veteran's Lunch

We participated in Milpitas' veterans appreciation luncheon hosted by the Milpitas Veteran's Commission back in May. Several veterans support organizations joined the event at the Jose Higuera Adobe Park. Officer Joshua Wells, was recognized by the Veterans Commission and the Mayor as Milpitas Veteran of Year for his many years of service to the Milpitas Community. Officer Wells served as an Army Ranger in the 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment from 2001-2004 before joining the MPD. Summer Care Packaging

We will be preparing packages to go out before the end of summer. We have been asked by several groups how they can help. We have put a short list of items needed for the summer boxes on our website, Southbaybluestarmoms.org. It is mostly for the heat the troops are enduring that we ask for Jerky, Hydration Packets and Gum. Our plan is to send boxes to groups to share. We also include Girl Scout Cookies, cany and snack items. WE ask for no chocolate items this time of the year.

If you have anything to donate, please contact us at bluestarmomssb@yahoo.com

GOODBYE to OUR DEAR FRIEND

We are sad to say goodbye to our dear friend Reuben Willhite, who peacefully passed on the 4th of July, after having lunch at the American Legion #419. He was surrounded by friends and family. Our prayers are with Oleta and their family at this time. They were supporters of our group efforts for years. Heaven just got another Marine!

Where in the heck are you?

Let us know when you have traveled and we will include some pics in our next newsletter.

Thanks to Kathleen Romano for sharing her trip to Maui last month!
