Greetings!
Soundscapes of the Seashore is an immersive digital experience that highlights Point Reyes’ vibrant soundscapes on five remarkable trails – Five Brooks, Bear Valley, Abbotts Lagoon, Muddy Hollow, and Palomarin. Created by this year’s wonderfully creative and thoughtful Science Communication Intern, Avani Fachon, the project highlights soundscapes documented over the past two years by four incredible recordists – Cheryl Leonard, Ernst Karel, Kristina Dutton, and Mark Lipman.

In the Soundscapes of the Seashore project, these recordings are skillfully woven together through Avani's photography, storytelling, and animations, which bring our trails to life in a digital format. Whether you've hiked these trails a million times or are new to our park, we encourage you to take a virtual trip (solo or with a hiking buddy) to explore how nature’s diverse voices are shaped by their surrounding ecosystems.

Hoping to see you the next time I’m out on the trail!
