Soup Day at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market loves the seasonal flavors our Delmarva farmers have to offer too much to miss celebrating Soup Day at the Fall Market! This Saturday, customers can find various prepared soup options at Gather, Jackie Blues, and Old World Breads, Kahiau’s Bakery will offer vegan soups, and Mahon River Farm will have fresh, homemade chicken bone broth. G’s DElights and Davidson Exotic Mushrooms will have prepackaged, dried soup mixes. Many other Market farmers will have special soup ingredients for those customers looking to make their own favorite recipes, including veggie soup groupings from Fox Briar Farm and Dittmar Family Farms, Enoch Farms smoked ham hocks and andouille sausage, Story Hill Farm beef soup bones, Reid Angus small roasts and stew cubes, and herbs from Derby Mill Farm. Be sure to bring your soup shopping list!

HLFM farmers and producers will also bring apples, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, pumpkins, varieties of winter squashes, beans, potatoes, beets, radishes, turnips, napa cabbage, radicchio, arugula, kale, Swiss chard, sweet and hot peppers, hydroponic and field lettuces, microgreens, local salt, eggs, cheese, yogurt, apple cider, cold-pressed juices, kombucha, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, oysters, crab, mushrooms, freeze-dried local fruits and veggies, cut-flower bouquets, freshly baked breads and pastries, apple cider donuts, jams and jellies, local honey, and much more!

The HLFM is unique in that it is producer-only—customers connect directly with the farmer who grew the produce and raised the animals to buy their local fruit, veggies, eggs, and meats. This Market is where the farmers are—the most farmers in any farmers market in the Delmarva!

Not at Market this Week:

  • Backyard Jams and Jellies
  • Brittingham Farms
  • Juice Club
  • Winters Farm Florals

The event will include live music, fresh local food, and feature the incredible plein air art painted at the Market over this season – for sale in support of the HLFM’s farmer and food access programs.

Lewes Yacht Club Chef and longtime friend of the Market Bill Clifton will be collaborating again with HLFM farmers to bring the best Fall flavors and local, seasonal ingredients to the table.

HLFM's Food Pantry Purchase Program—

Help Your Favorite Farmers and Feed our Community

HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community with fresh local food may purchase produce, meats, eggs, and other food from growers at the Market to donate to the local Food Pantries, including Epworth and Casa San Francisco, every Saturday.

The HLFM pre-purchases food from Market vendors each week, and customers can add to the abundance by:

🌽Donating cash at the Information Tent (we’ll do the shopping for you!)

🫐Giving a donation directly to our farmers ($5, $10, $25, or any amount you want to give), ask them to set aside a selection of their products for the food pantries.

🥕Purchasing some fresh, seasonal food and dropping it off in the Pantry Wagon next to the Information Tent.

🥓Don't forget the meat and eggs too! Our farmers will happily set aside donated meat and eggs and keep them cool until it's time for pickup.

🍅Making a donation through our website - you can designate that you want your gift to be used on fresh food for the pantries!

It’s so easy- the farmer gets your sale, and the food pantry gets the local food. We thank you for your generosity!

Buying a Shirt Preserves Local Farmland

Thank you for supporting our mission!

The HLFM is a non-profit organization, and all merchandise proceeds benefit our food access programs. You are not just purchasing a bag or a shirt, you are helping small family farms sustain their businesses and you are helping us expand access to fresh, seasonal food for our neighbors facing food insecurity.

Our Therm-O-Tote Bag keeps all your market purchases–from meats to eggs to veggies–cool this season! The bag’s design includes a plastic bottom insert and an inside pocket. Measuring 13W x 10D x 15H, this earth-friendly market tote contains 20% recycled materials and is reusable.

Our adorable lime green kids t-shirts are available in many kids sizes (3T, 4T, and Youth Large) and feature a sprout design, saying "Future Farmer," as we hope to inspire the next generation of farmers!
