Dear ECEDHA Community,
We are looking forward to our upcoming 2025 ECEDHA Annual Conference and ECExpo, taking place March 20 - 24, 2025 at the Hilton Norfolk The Main in Norfolk, Virginia. This much anticipated event is a highlight for ECEDHA members bringing together ECE academia and industry professionals from across North America to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in our field.
The conference features a comprehensive program that includes keynote speakers, plenary panels, breakout sessions, the ECExpo technology exhibition, and specialized programming for ECE lab professionals and students. This includes full-day workshops and regional meetings to encourage collaboration among local peers.
| |
|
I am particularly excited about our special student workshops aimed at empowering the next generation of ECE professionals. The IEC 2to4 Outreach & Networking Workshop is designed to support undergraduate students transitioning from two-year to four-year institutions by providing mentorship and networking opportunities critical for their academic and professional growth.
For graduate students, the iREDEFINE Workshop focuses on empowering underrepresented groups in ECE, offering mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities to help shape their future careers. This year, we are proud to report a record number of applications for the iREDEFINE program, reflecting the growing interest and need for such initiatives in our community.
To ensure your participation, I encourage you to register for the conference today to take advantage of the Early Bird rate and to secure your hotel accommodations promptly. Rooms at the Hilton Norfolk The Main are expected to sell out.
We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be an enriching and inspiring event for the ECE community.
Sincerely,
John Janowiak

Experimental Computer Developed at Montana State Launches Successfully for the Moon By: Skip Anderson
| | |
The launch of the lander, named Blue Ghost, is scheduled to launch Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 11:11 p.m. Mountain Standard Time atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The lander will then orbit Earth for 25 days before taking a four-day journey to the moon, where it will orbit for 16 days. Blue Ghost is expected to set down near a volcanic feature called Mons Latreille, which is located within a 300-mile-wide basin in the upper-right quadrant of the Earth-facing side of the moon. Once on the lunar surface, the lander and 10 onboard science and technology instruments are expected to operate for one lunar day — or around 14 Earth days — plus a few hours into the darkness of the lunar night. | | | |

“My academic journey began at Montgomery College, where I pursued an Associate of Science degree in General Engineering. Following in the footsteps of my family and driven by my passion for engineering, I transferred to Howard University to continue my education. During my time at Montgomery College, I built a strong foundation, which helped me transition to Howard.
I’ve always loved building and designing things, which naturally led me to pursue engineering. Ever since I was young, I’ve enjoyed finding creative solutions to everyday challenges, and I realized that engineering was the perfect way to turn this passion into a meaningful career. My ultimate goal is to innovate and create technologies that address societal needs while continuing to inspire the next generation of engineers. This journey has taught me the value of persistence, and thankful for the 2to4 Scholarship to help me achieve my dreams.”
