Letter to U.S. AbilityOne Commission Regarding Proposed Amendments to Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act

SourceAmerica and its Board of Directors support proposed amendments to the Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act that will increase the future employment of people with disabilities.

In a letter to the U.S. AbilityOne Commission on Sept. 9, SourceAmerica Board Chairman Norm Lorentz offered suggestions to amend JWOD. Those include updating the definition of “significant disability” to expand opportunities for more people to benefit from the AbilityOne® Program; lowering the minimum allowable direct labor ratio to create better flexibility in serving the intended mission; and tying these outcomes to a uniform employment standard recognized throughout the Federal Government.

The full letter is available on the Extranet.

Deadline Extended! Medicaid Waiver Survey

SourceAmerica extended the completion deadline for the Medicaid Waiver Survey to Sept. 23. We greatly appreciate the 87 responses received thus far. Initial data shows that NPAs receive Medicaid Waiver reimbursements for nearly 300 AbilityOne and 4,000 non-AbilityOne employees. Responses also indicate network concerns about the impact of the Home- and Community-Based Services settings rules.

Please take the time to complete this survey so we can determine how to better assist your organizations. Questions? Contact Brian DeAtley at BDeAtley@SourceAmerica.org.
