Happy Earth Day! It may be hard to imagine that before 1970, a factory could spew black clouds of toxic smoke into the air or dump tons of toxic waste into a nearby stream, and that was perfectly legal. They could not be taken to court to stop it. How was that possible? Because there was no U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), no Clean Air Act, no Clean Water Act. There were no legal or regulatory mechanisms to guide your business' role in protecting the environment.

Labels & Logos to Identify During Earth Day
(U.S. Environmental Protection Agency)
|
Car buying, insect repellents, sun exposure - every day we make choices that
can affect our health and our environment. The EPA is here to help you find options that don't compromise on safety or performance. Check out these labels and logos from their programs - each one helps you save money, reduce pollution, and protect your business.

How to Celebrate Earth Day (10 Activity Ideas for Your Work)
(Andrew Blackman, Envato Tuts+)
|
If you care about the environment and also want to engage and motivate your employees, Earth Day is a perfect opportunity to take action.
We all know that the environment needs protecting, now more than ever and taking environmental action can have positive effects for a business as well.
As a starting point, try implementing or encouraging staff to take action for these ten Earth Day activities, and there's no limit to your own creativity. So, by all means get imaginative and organize your own Earth Day activities.
Some of the activities are ideal for a weekend, or you could always do something in the days after the official date today, April 22. Feel free to use this as a template for planning next year's activities too!
