Welcome

In January, we let you know about our name change...and this month, our name and program has been refined to better help you in providing timely information on programs.  The new name is the South Bay Green Business Assist Program.  A new flyer has been developed and is included here. We hope that you will contact us so that we may assist you with ideas to make your business operate more efficiently and environmentally friendly. Please feel free to let other businesses know about this program by directing them to our website or calling 310-371-7222.

Some Common Green Business Practices
(from the California Green Business Network)

  • Reduce water use by using low-flow toilets and urinals and installing auto-off faucets
  • Conserve energy by upgrading lighting and equipment
  • Commute sustainably by promoting and incentivizing alternative transportation for employees 
  • Prevent pollution by eliminating and/or properly disposing of harmful chemicals
  • Use safer, environmentally preferable non-toxic cleaning chemicals
  • Avoid waste by eliminating unnecessary packaging, printing, and purchasing
  • Divert waste from the landfill by reusing, recycling, and composting
  • Hire local vendors to reduce vehicle use

Upcoming Community Events 

The South Bay Environmental Services Center (SBESC) will be an exhibitor at the following Earth Day celebrations:  April 18th in Rolling Hills Estates, April 21st in Carson, Hawthorne, and Inglewood.  SBESC will also have an exhibit table at the Whale of a Day Celebration in Rancho Palos Verdes on April 14th.
