Join us in celebrating the Southeast Volunteer Fire Department's official ribbon-cutting! With a proud history of serving our community since 1972, these brave men and women are the first line of defense against fires, emergencies, and disasters. Their dedication and selflessness have saved countless lives and properties over the years.

Harris County Precinct 2 Adrian Garcia's office presented a Certificate of Celebration, and State Representative Dennis Paul gifted a Texas flag that had flown over the Capitol.

We extend our sincere thanks to them for serving a community of 25,000 residents through fire suppression, rescue operations, and safety, all because of their incredible team.

Home Bank has consistently demonstrated an outstanding commitment to our community through various initiatives and exceptional service.

A special acknowledgment goes to Sarah Ferguson, whose remarkable contributions to the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce gala committee have undeniably enhanced our events. Her expertise in decorations has set the perfect mood and tone, significantly influencing the success of our galas. Beyond her professional duties, Sarah has also played a key role in helping Home Bank support organizations like the American Heart Association, Bay Area Turning Point, Kidz Harbor, the Houston Ballet, and, most recently, the Clear Lake Lunar Rendezvous Festival. Her involvement reflects Home Bank’s focus on making a positive impact in the community.

We also want to highlight Betsy Pena, who has emerged as an invaluable member of the Home Bank team. Her reliable support guarantees smooth and enjoyable interactions with both our staff and board members.

Five chambers collaborated to host the 2025 State of Precinct 2 Luncheon, featuring Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia.

Adam Winkler served as the moderator, asking questions submitted by chamber staff and volunteers on various topics relevant to Precinct 2 constituents.

Our chamber's chair-elect, Kristi Koncaba, delivered an inspiring invocation, while other colleagues, including Jacob Bigger, welcomed the 700 attendees. Debbie Westbeld led the pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags, Kicker Cardenas introduced the elected officials, and Angela Thatcher introduced the keynote speaker, Commissioner Garcia.

The South Belt - Ellington Chamber of Commerce extends gratitude to Darlin Colon (Community Health Network), Rebecca Lilley (Memorial Hermann), Reyna Lara (Shell Federal Credit Union), and J. Aaron Knight (San Jacinto College) for their sponsorship of the event.

The energy was palpable, as this luncheon provides valuable networking opportunities for business leaders and elected officials each year.

In line with its dedication to community engagement, the Houston Business Journal recently participated in a presentation at the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership's membership meeting held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Lakewood Yacht Club. This event, aligned with BAHEP's mission to spearhead regional economic development in the Bay Area Houston region, offered the Journal a prime opportunity to share valuable insights on current market trends, spotlight emerging opportunities, and discuss the strategic initiatives that are influencing Houston's economic landscape.

¡Bienvenidos a una noche mágica de Havana Nights!

On the evening of Friday, May 16th, over 400 enthusiastic participants gathered at the South Shore Harbour Resort to engage in a celebration hosted by Dickinson ISD Education Foundation.

The atmosphere was infused with the spirit of Cuba, as the lively sounds of salsa and son Cubano filled the air, encouraging guests to sway and celebrate. The venue had been transformed into a setting reminiscent of Old Havana, adorned with tropical décor, flickering lanterns, and the enticing aroma of a feast worthy of a Cuban paladar.

Lisa Holbrook, representing the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce, participated in the festivities as a guest of Rick Lippert, a member of the Foundation’s board of directors.

From the first paso doble to the final round of applause, Havana Nights celebrated community, education, and the rhythm of progress. The evening resonated the promise of a brighter mañana.

The Clear Lake Lunar Rendezvous Festival's signature event, the Palm Royale Fashion Show, was held at the Galveston Island Convention Center at San Luis Resort on Tuesday, July 15th. This event was a remarkable occasion characterized by presentations of court members, including Little Ladies and Pages in Waiting, Princesses, Lieutenants, and Royals. The afternoon featured an extensive auction comprising both silent and live items, attracting a sellout crowd. Entertainment was provided by the Bay Area Houston Ballet and Theatre, alongside a fashion show that consistently surpasses expectations, under the production of Lenny Matuszewski.
