South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce's
2nd Annual
Gold Star Families Recognition & Honor Luncheon
Wednesday, November 13, 2024
Hope Village Event Center
| |
The South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce is excited and honored to host its second annual Gold Star Family Recognition & Honor Luncheon. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope Village Event Center.
A Gold Star family is a family that has lost an immediate family member who died while serving in the military. The term originated during World War I when families displayed banners with a blue star for each family member serving in the armed forces. If a service member died, the family would replace the blue star with gold to inform the community of their loss. The title honors the service member's sacrifice and acknowledges the family's grief and healing.
We are thrilled to announce our keynote speaker is Trisha Stetzel, who served eight years in the US Navy as a cryptologic technician, providing
communications services and leading teams in the continental U.S., Japan, and Hawaii. Among many of her professional and volunteer endeavors, Trisha serves the Houston Regional Veterans Chamber of Commerce on the Board of Directors.
Our goal is to secure fifteen Gold Star families who we can, through our event, create a supportive and compassionate space for them. We want them to know that while their loved one is gone, their memory will never fade, and their sacrifice will always be remembered.
We sincerely hope you can join us for this meaningful occasion and share in the experience of sharing our gratitude for their courage, resilience, and the enduring legacy of those they have lost.

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, the Bay Area Houston Transportation Partnership hosted the State of the Ports.
This engaging gathering featured a panel discussion moderated by BayTran Board Member Timothy R. Vail, COL (Ret.) of HDR, Inc. The spotlight was on two major ports: Port Houston and the Port of Galveston. Seeing these important hubs come together to discuss their impact and future endeavors was great.
A heartfelt thank you to RJ Boatman and the TABI Office of Safe and Secure Schools for inviting the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce to be a guest at their table.

What a fantastic start to the July 4th Spectacular event, as the annual parade did not disappoint!
Participants lined up at Beverly Hills Intermediate with Carolyn Evans-Shabazz, Council Member District D, serving as Grand Marshall.
Along with the chamber who rode in an old-fashioned stage coach, the Southeast Volunteer Fire Department, Jerry Garcia, Harris County Constable Precinct 2, Pasadena Strawberry Festival's Queens, PeeWee football teams, Boy Scout troops, and many citizens began at 10:00 a.m., and along the route were met with enthusiastic greetings and squeals of delight from the children as they received beads and candy from the caravan.
Happy Birthday, America!

The Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership hosted its membership meeting Wednesday afternoon, July 17th, at Lakewood Yacht Club, featuring Jim Szczesniak, the Aviation Director of Houston Airports.
He comprehensively updated the plans for Intercontinental, Hobby, and Ellington airports. There were numerous exciting points, but the one that caught our chamber's attention was the future revival of the shuttle service from Ellington to IAH.
It is a pleasure for the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce to be this organization's regional partner.
