SCRA Awards Company of the Year and Founder of the Year at Annual Summit

Hundreds gathered at South Carolina Research Authority’s annual summit in Columbia yesterday, where Charleston-based GoodUnited was awarded Company of the Year, and Lanford Holloway, CEO of Columbia-based TerraStride, was awarded Founder of the Year. GoodUnited developed an application that helps nonprofits raise money with their innovative two-way messaging platform that integrates with social media. TerraStride offers two products, TerraStride PRO, which allows users to tour a piece of land virtually, and HuntStand, the most popular hunting app in the country. TerraStride was recently acquired by industry giant GSM Outdoors. Read more.

2023 InnoVision Awards: Now Accepting Nominations

InnoVision is now accepting nominations for its 2023 InnoVision Awards. Please visit innovisionawards.org to submit an application for companies or researchers that deserve special recognition for their innovative solutions in the following categories: Technology Development, Technology Application, Small Business, Sustainability, Education, Community Service, and Young Innovator. The nomination deadline is June 2. Finalists will be celebrated and winners announced at a ceremony in Columbia in November. Read more or submit a nomination.

City of Columbia's 10th Annual Small Business Week Conference

The City of Columbia's Office of Business Opportunities will be having its 10th Annual Small Business Week Conference on Friday, May 5 at the Medallion Conference Center. The keynote for this year's conference is motivational speaker and author Chris Singleton. In addition to the keynote, there will be informative breakout sessions tailored to growing and sustaining your small business. The U.S. Small Business Administration will also have an awards ceremony and matchmaking sessions for small businesses. Learn more and register.

Annual MUSC Innovation Week

APR 24-28

The yearly celebration is held statewide and recognizes their culture of innovation amongst all employees. Events throughout the week will feature free events and sessions designed to recognize employees but also empower them that all ideas are seriously considered. Last year, the MUSC Office of Innovation awarded over $500,000 in funding to over 25 new projects during Innovation Week.
