A Christmas Carol Tradition Continues At South Coast Repertory | |
Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei) celebrates the holiday season with the 42nd production of A Christmas Carol, a longtime Orange County favorite. The Charles Dickens classic, adapted by Jerry Patch, runs Nov. 26-Dec. 24 on the Segerstrom Stage.
SCR Founding Member Richard Doyle returns for his second year as Ebenezer Scrooge. His performances as the miserly curmudgeon in last year’s production drew critical praise. And Hisa Takakuwa returns to direct.

The Grammy-winning Pacific Chorale, one of the nation’s leading choirs, launches its signature holiday programming with two performances of “Carols by Candlelight,” spotlighting timeless traditional and contemporary holiday music. Special musical guests organist Jung-A Lee and pianist David Clemensen join members of Pacific Chorale, bathed in flickering candlelight, for this distinctive seasonal program on Saturday, December 3, and Wednesday, December 7, 2022, 8:00 pm, in the hushed sanctuary of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach. Artistic Director Robert Istad also conducts “Gloria” from Missae Papae Marcelli by Palestrina, Stanford’s Magnificat in G, Op. 81, and works by such contemporary composers as Sarah Quartel, Bob Chilcott, Chad McCoy, Ola Gjeilo, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Will Todd and Alexandra Denny. | |

Pacific Chorale’s family-friendly extravaganza “Tis the Season!” – considered one of Orange County’s favorite holiday traditions – will fill the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa with festive musical cheer and delightful sonic wonder in back-to-back performances on Sunday, December 18, 5 pm, and Monday, December 19, 2022, 7:30 pm. Cherished holiday carols and seasonal gems will be sung to glorious perfection by the Grammy-winning chorus, under the baton of Artistic Director Robert Istad. They are joined by special guests Southern California Children’s Chorus and members of Pacific Symphony. A visit from The Man in Red, Santa Claus, caps the joyful Yuletide celebration.
